Tablecloth Size Guide
Choosing the right tablecloth size starts with measuring your table and deciding how much overhang ("drop") you want. Use this guide to find the right size for any occasion.
How to Measure Your Table
- Rectangular table: measure the length and the width of the tabletop (in inches), edge-to-edge.
- Round table: measure the diameter across the widest point of the tabletop.
- Square table: measure one side of the tabletop.
Drop Length
"Drop" is the amount of fabric that hangs down from the edge of the table. Pick a drop based on the formality of the event.
- Short drop (6–8") — casual everyday dining, brunches, breakfast.
- Mid drop (10–12") — most common, suits both daily and formal use.
- Full drop / floor length (28–30") — weddings, banquets, formal events.
Tablecloth Size Formula
Add (2 × desired drop) to each side of your table size.
Example: a 60" × 30" rectangular table with a 12" drop needs roughly 60 + 24 = 84" by 30 + 24 = 54", so an 84" × 54" tablecloth.

Round vs. Rectangular
Round tablecloths drape gracefully on round tables and on most square tables of similar size. On a rectangular table, a round tablecloth will pool unevenly at the corners; in most cases, choose rectangular for rectangular tables.
